Restore your priceless stained glass

With our expert services in stained glass restoration, Denver customers can put their minds at ease. Sometimes we hear from clients with stained glass windows, doors, or lighting fixtures that have become damaged over time. They always want to know if their prized stained glass pieces can be restored. And they want to know if their pieces will still look the same after they have been restored, because sometimes they are antiques. Their owners wonder if we can possibly match this old glass.

The answer, 99 percent of the time, is a YES. With stained glass restoration, Denver clients can have their pieces cleaned, polished, repaired if necessary, and restored to their original beauty.
If a piece has missing pieces of glass, cracked or chipped glass, or other damage, customers ask us if it’s really worth it to have it repaired. “Wouldn’t it just be better to have a new stained glass window made,” they ask us.

This depends on the extent of the damage, and the age of the piece. When talking about antique stained glass, the fact is that once restored, it is likely to be worth three to four times what a brand new stained glass window would be worth.

Using our methods of stained glass restoration, Denver windows are only disassembled as much as necessary to reach the damaged area. We can usually match any color of glass. But for specialty glass, we might have to hunt for the perfect replacement. We can source glass from the top manufacturers around the world. It is quite rare that we cannot match the glass for your stained glass window. Once we have matched the glass and cut it to the correct shapes, we will reassemble the window, using special dark leads and special soldering techniques that will allow the new glass to blend perfectly with the old.

Your stained glass will look as good as new, especially once we get done cleaning and polishing it. Stained glass restoration, Denver stained glass artisans know, is as much of an art form as stained glass design. It has to be done with great respect for the look and feel of the original piece.

When we come to reinstall your restored stained glass, we might suggest a different installation than what you had before. Many of Denver’s older neighborhoods had homes with stained glass, but these windows usually were exposed to the elements. We prefer to bond our stained glass to a regular clear pane of glass, to try to protect it from the kind of damage you just had repaired.
